DJ Candyman
Starting out in the Wellington club scene in 1992 he quickly made a name for himself as a Techno DJ becoming the resident DJ of EuroClub.
After landing a few guest DJ spots around Wellington Candyman became well known for his style of music and became the resident DJ of Metro.
In the late 1990's moved to Auckland and gained a presence in the club scene. Family commitments brought him to Whangarei where he landed the residency at Planet Earth. This is where he gained the skills as an all round party DJ, playing those cheesy old tracks DJs hate to admit to EVER playing. A few years down the track Candyman, fed up with the lack of House music scene in Whangarei opened his first bar The Mezzanine. Whangarei's first Techno club. A year later he opened a huge nightclub, Insomniakz. Playing alongside guest DJs like Sam Hill, Sample Gee, General Lee, Greg Churchill, Andy Vann and Mikey Havoc, to name just a few (my apologies for not naming you all) his popularity grew stronger and his taste for House even deeper. Candyman also gained frequent flyer miles at The Old Stone Butterfactory and Salut playing alongside Recloose, Nathan Haynes, Soane and Chris Cox. This is where Candyman developed a taste for the Funk. Those groovey beats you just can't help but shake your ass to.
Candyman frequently delved into producing and his own tracks that have been heard throughout all his gigs yet never been published.
After years of producing experience and moulding of his unique style, flair and technique Candyman has released his first single Wish List. Just a taste of things to come from this talented DJ / Producer. Watch out also for compilations releasing soon favouring a Funky Jazzy House flavour.
Now back in Tauranga he has joined forces with Addictive DJs, raising the standards of mobile DJs in the Bay of Plenty. A new benchmark has been set. Watch out for this unstoppable force.
