From Aaron... 'When I established Aaron Lang Photography after returning from Europe I asked myself what worked and didn’t work in the current photography industry in New Zealand and the South Pacific? What do clients want from photography in today's age of digital technology?
Answer…I found you wanted modern, documentary or story telling based photographic images that were based around having loads of fun un-posed photos but that's just part of it, no point having beautiful images if you don't own them so with Aaron Lang Photography you own all digital negatives and photos without extra costs so that’s what I did.
Aaron Lang Photography is the future of wedding photography today... we are the forefront of creative wedding photography and consistently lead the industry. Our style is fun, romantic and creative but most of all FUN! We know that Brides and Grooms seek a difference and want unique photos that differ from the traditional wedding photographer. Think creative, think Aaron Lang Photography. .jpg)
So you're planning one of the biggest events of your life and you want to get it right?
Best tip ever on photography, choose a professional, whether you use us or not, I can’t stress enough how important to choose a proven professional, don’t trust a home handy man photographer, a sports photographer, a landscape photographer to get amazing photos, you only get one shot at this, get the best photos you can afford and hire a professional wedding photographer.
Choose a photographer based on service and image quality, make sure you see a large array of weddings, don’t just look at a dozen of the best photos the photographer has chosen on a website, view what they did last week, last month, what they did when it rained recently.
At Aaron Lang photography, we operate with complete transparency, we have highlights of over 100 recent weddings on our website so you can see quality and consistency.
Below are a few things to think about when it comes to your wedding photographs - after all when the day is over you want to have images that capture and portray the event and ensure lasting quality memories....
Aaron Lang Photographers are passionate about weddings, we specialise in wedding photography. Of all the things you can do to work within a budget, donlt skimp on photos, hire a passionate professional that knows what to look for and expect when capturing your day!
Aaron Lang Photography Ltd is a professional wedding photography company that give you all the photos from the day, yes all of them, sometimes as many as 2000 originals.
Does your photographer ask you to sign a contract giving them (the photographer) the rights to your photos? This is common practice within the industry. Photographers that own a Copyright over your photos is standard practise within the industry, there are only a handful of professional that give you all the photos from the day in hi res at no extra costs.
Do you have to pay more or wait a designated time before you can own or purchase your photos?
If the Photographers owns your photos, do you have control over where and when they use them? With no control over your images you may end up on a billboard with no rights to change it.
Does your chosen photographer give you all the original images shot direct from the camera for your safe keeping?
Do you have a say in what images your photographer takes, do they work with you to attain the kinds of photos you have always dreamed of?
What wedding package is best for us - do we want a Wedding Album - do we need extra copy albums for family?
What albums do they supply? Can you choose not to get an album and just order your photos on disc and design your own album later your self with the various arrays of on line album designers?
We make it easy for you by providing the images on disc to use as you like! However, many couples want to arrange for the album to be made now - otherwise they may never get round to it or not have the funding to get it done!
We recommend top quality, beautiful and long lasting Queensberry Albums.
With Aaron Lang photography you decide on exactly what images you want in your Queensberry Album. Within 10 days of your wedding you will have received a DVD/CD of images and a DVD slideshow and from here you can then choose your favourites for the album. We will then create the Queensberry Album for you. If you prefer to leave the choice of images up to the experts then we are also happy to create the album without your input.
We are happy to shoot in more than one location and we usually aim for 4-5 hours of shooting time, so it is a good idea to invite us to capture you getting ready 1 hour before the ceremony - i.e. getting beautiful with the girls (or if you opt for more than one photographer, getting chilled with the boys!) Our photographers are great at easing the tension and getting smiles out of everyone and it also means we get to capture all the small details that you both spend so much time and effort getting perfect!
Allow and hour to an hour and a half for ceremony, congratulations and family photos. To make this efficient as possible, give you MC a list of photos and your photographer will work with them to ensure this is done a quickly as possible giving you more time for your fun, creative photos.
After the formal family and group photos what should we do for our creative photos? We recommend the bridal party goes away from the rest of the guests to a location where you can relax and have some fun - this could simply mean a different part of the garden or driving to a beach or forest setting. Allow 45mins to 11/2 hours of shooting time plus whatever time it takes to get there and back. Bring a bottle of bubbly, beers and nibbles if this is your thing or some bottled water if you prefer. If you have any ideas for great photos give us your scrapbook before hand. At Aaron Lang Photography we like to get creative and have fun - after all its a happy occasion - you did just get married!
Normally our packages allow for 4-5 hours of shooting time but we can extend this to fit in with your schedule (see our 'extra time' rates). If you prefer to keep the time down then we recommend that you either do the cake cutting earlier in the evenings proceedings.
More images can be taken on location which means a more complete coverage of the day with out changing cameras, filters film etc.
The photographer is not as limited in the amount of photos they take and are able to capture those candid and spontaneous moments.
The greatest advantage for digital is that the control of both the photographic and post production process are in the hands of the artist -digital retouching in the hands of an expert can create amazing results.
With digital it is possible to colour correct, enhance, crop down and clean up images and produce different versions of the same photo including black and white, colour, sepia, mixed media etc.
The digital medium is ideal for backup - very little chance of those catastrophes we hear of with traditional film as multiple copies can be stored in different locations.
Choose a photographer that TELL A STORY OF YOUR DAY through creative images.
Natural, fun photos that portray the day as it is, natural and fun. Don’t get a photographer that wants to pose you and make you feel uncomfortable, this will reflect in your photos.
We recommend your photographer arrive approx an hour prior to the ceremony at the bride’s place of preparation. This has many benefits. We can capture loads of details that tell a story about your day, i.e. shoes, gown, finishing touches of your makeup, engagement ring etc etc. Having your photographer arrive early also gives you a chance to get used to the camera, last thing you want is to arrive at the ceremony nervous and then feel the camera off putting too. This will ad to your anxiety.
What to consider during the ceremony?
Where will you both stand when you are in front of your guests?
Where will the person that gives the bride away stand until he/she is asked ‘who gives this Bride away’?
Do you traditionally walk in with the Bridesmaids in before you or do you personalise this?
Where will the sun be?
Where will your bridesmaids and groomsmen stand?
Do you need a back up venue for the ceremony if the weather packs in?
Where will your celebrant stand?
Do you face each other, do you face the celebrant.
Will your celebrant stand stationary or move around?
Will you both and your celebrant use microphones, where will the speakers be in regards to you photos?
Will your ceremony be under a tree, pergola that may cast shadows on your face, gown etc?
Have you arranged a chair for signing the registrar?
Will you walk back down the isle at the end of the ceremony?
Will there be confetti, rice thrown etc?
Is there anything personally to you that the photographer should expect such as a reading, a song, a Haka, a sand or candle ceremony etc, group prayers or sermons. …all of the above are important to a photographer so they no what to expect.
